TLDR:

• Win gold and cash prizes

• Earn nol+ points commuting

• Participate in mystery challenge

DUBAI (The Thursday Times)As Dubai prepares for its annual Public Transport Day on November 1, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching an extraordinary giveaway for commuters, with substantial prizes for those who frequently use public transport. From Monday to Friday next week, RTA’s initiatives will incentivise residents and visitors to engage with public services, with rewards ranging from cash prizes to gold and a chance to win over a million nol+ points.

Public transport challenges and prizes

The RTA’s program will include a series of challenges designed to reward those who use public transport services most frequently. These include the metro, trams, and buses, and this year, the RTA has ramped up the prize structure to include categories tailored for diverse commuter groups, from senior citizens and students to People of Determination and even RTA employees.

Each of the six categories in this year’s Public Transport Champions contest will have three winners, each rewarded based on the frequency of their commuting during the campaign period. Points are redeemable across city-wide merchants and can also be used for additional public transport. Top prizes will go to the champions, with first-place winners receiving a substantial sum of one million nol+ points, with additional rewards for runners-up.

Mystery man challenge with major prizes

One of the week’s most exciting activities is the “Mysterious Man Challenge,” organised in collaboration with the Arabian Radio Network (ARN). Participants are encouraged to locate a mysterious figure in metro stations from October 30 through November 1. Daily winners will receive cash prizes of Dhs10,000, and on Public Transport Day, an extra 50-gram gold bar will be awarded to one lucky winner.

This unique feature of the Public Transport Day celebration aims to create more engagement and buzz around commuting, turning everyday metro journeys into chances for substantial prizes. The event has previously seen a high level of interest, adding an element of thrill and surprise to regular metro commutes.

Fifteen years of promoting public transport in dubai

Celebrating the 15th Public Transport Day since its inception alongside the Dubai Metro, the event underscores the city’s commitment to building a more sustainable and accessible transport network. This year’s theme, “Good for you, Great for Dubai,” encourages residents and visitors to reduce their carbon footprint by opting for public transport.

According to Abdulla Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Sector, the initiative aligns with Dubai’s long-term vision to position itself as a global leader in sustainable urban mobility. With expanded options that include bicycles, e-scooters, and marine transport, Dubai’s public transport infrastructure is an integral part of the city’s sustainability goals and efforts to enhance urban living.

nol+ points, cash, and a golden opportunity

The nol+ points, which can be earned in substantial amounts through the RTA challenges, provide not only a reward for frequent commuters but also an incentive to maintain an eco-friendly lifestyle. Winners will be announced during a ceremony where they’ll be crowned as Public Transport Champions and awarded their prizes.

For Dubai’s residents and regular visitors, Public Transport Day is more than just a single day of events; it’s a push towards sustainable urban living and an invitation to participate in creating a more accessible, environmentally friendly Dubai.
