DUBAI (The Thursday Times) — Dubai is rolling out a month of celebrations to mark UAE Flag Day and the 53rd UAE National Day, bringing free public events, cultural showcases, and grand displays to every corner of the city. From concerts at Expo City to fireworks over the Dubai skyline, residents and visitors alike will find endless ways to join the celebrations. Announced by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the festival of events highlights Dubai’s commitment to honouring its heritage, especially the legacy of founding fathers Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
A celebration of Emirati heritage and culture
Dubai’s biggest attractions will host unique cultural events throughout November, encouraging both Emiratis and international visitors to experience the UAE’s rich traditions. Dubai Culture and Arts Authority will bring history to life at key heritage sites like Hatta Heritage Village and Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, where visitors can explore local customs. Al Shindagha Museum, the largest open-air heritage museum in the UAE, will revive heritage houses with theatrical performances to illustrate daily life in old Dubai.
Flag garden and light displays across Dubai
The UAE Flag Garden near Burj Al Arab returns this year, honouring the two founding fathers with a vast field of UAE flags. The garden will become a favourite spot for photographers, symbolising unity as the country celebrates its independence. Dubai Municipality has confirmed that major landmarks like Dubai Frame, Dubai Safari Park, and the Deira Clock Tower roundabout will also illuminate with colourful light displays for the festivities, creating an iconic night-time spectacle.
Concerts and parades at expo city
At Expo City’s Al Wasl Dome, two free public concerts will mark UAE National Day, featuring the renowned Firdaus Orchestra performing beloved Emirati national songs. Al Wasl Plaza will be adorned with UAE flags and traditional Emirati decor, and visitors can enjoy cultural performances, including the Emirati Harvest Market, which will showcase locally grown food and products. Dubai’s annual Union Day Parade will take place at City Walk on 2 December, promising a carnival atmosphere with traditional dances, music, and a vibrant community spirit.
Airports greet visitors with traditional songs
Travellers arriving at Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central Airport will be welcomed by Emirati national songs and maritime-themed decor celebrating the city’s fishing heritage. The airport terminals will also host traditional performances and cultural showcases, providing visitors with an authentic taste of Emirati hospitality upon arrival.
Fireworks, music, and festive markets
Spectacular fireworks displays will light up Dubai’s skies on 2 and 3 December at popular locations like JBR Beach, Al Seef, Hatta, and Dubai Festival City Mall. In addition to fireworks, Global Village will host nightly displays, alongside seasonal markets, traditional performances, and special offers at restaurants citywide. Hatta will also join in the festivities, featuring cultural folk dances, live music, and heritage displays showcasing the local mountain culture.
Landmarks transform with #ZayedAndRashid campaign
The Museum of the Future will join the celebrations by displaying flags featuring the #ZayedAndRashid campaign logo, which pays tribute to the UAE’s founding fathers. The museum will share a special video commemorating Eid Al Etihad across its social media, while tickets during the celebration period will also feature the campaign logo. RTA bridges and streets will be decorated with the UAE flag, and major Dubai Metro and Tram electronic screens will display the #ZayedAndRashid logo, creating a vibrant citywide display.
