Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, embarked on his first official visit to the U.S., meeting top U.S. officials and the UN Secretary-General to discuss bilateral interests, regional security, and global conflicts, with a focus on counterterrorism and the Kashmir issue.

Pakistan has formally applied to join the BRICS group of countries in 2024, joining the likes of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, in an economic and eventual monetary union in order to enhance international co-operation.
