JERUSALEM (THURSDAY TIMES) — The Israeli military has claimed that it killed Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in a recent airstrike targeting southern Beirut.
The operation, which took place on Friday evening, reportedly aimed at eliminating key Hezbollah leaders, including Nasrallah. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have stated that the strike was part of an ongoing effort to dismantle Hezbollah’s leadership and military infrastructure, which Israel blames for continuous attacks against its territory.
Despite these claims, Hezbollah has yet to officially confirm Nasrallah’s death, and reports from regional media suggest that his fate remains uncertain. Israeli military sources have emphasized that the strike targeted an underground facility where Hezbollah leaders were believed to be present. Nasrallah had been a key figure in Hezbollah for over three decades, leading the group in its operations against Israel and growing it into a major military and political force in Lebanon.
