President Donald Trump addressed reporters on Wednesday, July 22, ahead of his meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan, in the Oval Office. Trump discussed potential collaboration between the U.S. and Pakistan on the ongoing war in Afghanistan, emphasising that he could end the conflict within a week but refrained from doing so to avoid “killing 10 million people.” In his remarks, Trump also criticised Democratic leaders in light of the upcoming testimony by former special counsel Robert Mueller on the Russia investigation, stating that he had no intention of watching the proceedings.
