MUNICH (The Thursday Times) — Pakistan’s army chief and chief of defence staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited Germany from 12 to 14 February to attend engagements on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, according to the Inter Services Public Relations.
As per ISPR, the COAS and CDF Asim Munir met a number of dignitaries during the visit, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, with discussions covering matters of mutual interest such as global and regional security dynamics and counterterrorism cooperation.
In meetings with German officials, Field Marshal Asim Munir called on Alexander Dobrindt, the federal interior minister, Günter Sautter, the foreign and security policy adviser to the federal chancellor and General Carsten Breuer, chief of defence of the German armed forces. The talks according to ISPR were focused on contemporary security challenges, bilateral defence cooperation, and the importance of advancing global peace and security through bilateral and multilateral dialogue.
ISPR added that Field Marshal Asim Munir also held an engagement with Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, chief of the joint staff of the Brazilian armed forces, where the two discussed avenues for bilateral military cooperation.
General Rodolph Haykal, commander of the Lebanese armed forces also called on Field Marshal Asim Munir, with discussions centred on the evolving regional and global security situation and measures to strengthen bilateral defence collaboration.
