Iran’s chief of staff killed in Tehran strikes, claims Israel

Iran’s chief of staff Abdolrahim Mousavi was killed in strikes on Tehran, claims Israel’s military. The IDF also says it targeted additional senior security figures and commanders in the capital.

TEL AVIV (The Thursday Times) — The Israeli military said it had killed Abdolrahim Mousavi, whom it identified as Iran’s chief of staff of the armed forces, in strikes that it said targeted senior figures in Tehran.

In a statement posted on social media, the Israel Defense Forces said Mousavi had been “eliminated”. It also claimed it struck and killed seven members of Iran’s top security leadership in Tehran and 40 senior commanders.

The Israeli statement did not provide further details on the timing, locations or identities of the officials it said were targeted, and it offered no supporting evidence. There was no immediate confirmation from Iranian authorities in the material shared by Israel.
