Speaking to religious scholars in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan will not progress through “magic” or shortcuts but through hard work, unity and respect for the armed forces. He hailed the army’s performance against India, urged clerics to fight sectarianism and argued that tough decisions by political and military leaders have helped pull the economy back from the edge of default.

A new nationwide corruption survey paints a cautiously positive picture for Pakistan’s state. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has accused Afghanistan’s Taliban-led government of supporting terrorism under Indian patronage and spreading false narratives to conceal its internal divisions and governance failures. Speaking through an official statement on X, Asif said there is complete consensus among Pakistan’s political and military leadership on security and foreign policy toward Afghanistan, emphasising that Islamabad’s approach remains rooted in peace, stability, and the national interest.
