CUPERTINO (The Thursday Times) — Apple today unveiled two groundbreaking additions to its Apple Watch lineup: Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, featuring sleek new designs, advanced health insights, and cutting-edge technology to help users stay connected, healthy, and active.
Apple Watch Series 10 is the thinnest and lightest Apple Watch ever, offering a more comfortable fit and 30% more screen area compared to earlier models. With a refined design and a new wide-angle OLED display, Series 10 improves readability and interactivity, making it easier than ever to view notifications, type messages, and track health metrics.
Available in both aluminum and titanium, Apple Watch Series 10 comes in an array of new colors and finishes. A standout addition is the sleek Jet Black polished aluminum finish, while new titanium cases in natural, gold, and slate offer a jewelry-like shine. Pre-orders are available starting today, with official availability in stores on Friday, September 20.
“Apple Watch has had an immeasurable positive impact on millions of people worldwide, helping them stay healthy, active, and connected,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer. “With Apple Watch Series 10, we’ve raised the bar once again, delivering our most advanced and intelligent watch yet, featuring the biggest display, enhanced health insights, and a more refined, comfortable design.”
Apple Watch Series 10 is 10% thinner than previous models, making it the most comfortable Apple Watch yet, without compromising on its 18-hour all-day battery life. The new design integrates the antenna directly into the metal back, giving it a seamless, one-piece appearance. With a new S10 SiP chip and a 4-core Neural Engine, Series 10 enhances daily performance while powering key features like on-device Siri, dictation, and automatic workout detection. Safety features such as Crash Detection and Fall Detection are also enhanced.
In addition to being thinner, Series 10 is also lighter. Aluminum cases are up to 10% lighter than Series 9, while titanium cases are 20% lighter than previous stainless-steel models. The more rounded corners and larger display sizes — 42mm and 46mm — enhance readability and user interaction.
New features include sleep apnea notifications, powered by advanced machine learning to detect signs of the condition and notify users with a detailed report they can share with healthcare providers. The S10 SiP chip delivers increased performance, enabling on-device Siri, double-tap gestures, and crash detection. Series 10 also introduces faster charging, offering up to eight hours of use after just a 15-minute charge.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2, now available in a striking black titanium finish, takes rugged performance to new heights. Designed for athletes and adventurers, Ultra 2 offers 36 hours of battery life, the brightest display Apple has ever created at 3000 nits, and the most accurate GPS in a sports watch.
New features include training load insights, sleep apnea notifications, and the Tides app, which provides real-time tidal forecasts for open water activities. The Action button is now customizable, allowing users to switch between workouts, access features like Stopwatch, or start Voice Memos with a simple press. For water sports, the new Titanium Milanese Loop band offers both durability and lightweight comfort.
The Apple Watch Hermès Ultra 2 offers a luxurious twist, combining the durability of Ultra 2 with a special Hermès En Mer band and exclusive watch faces.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 starts at $799 (U.S.), while the Hermès Ultra 2 is available starting at $1,399 (U.S.). Pre-orders for both models are open today, with availability starting September 20.
Both Series 10 and Ultra 2 include the newly enhanced sleep apnea notification feature, designed to detect signs of sleep apnea using Apple’s advanced accelerometer technology. Users can track Breathing Disturbances and receive FDA-pending notifications about potential sleep apnea. This feature will be available in over 150 countries later this month.
Additionally, Apple Watch Ultra 2 is designed for a wide range of sports, including running, cycling, swimming, and hiking. Automatic stroke detection and lap counting are perfect for swimmers, while turn-by-turn hiking directions and offline maps provide enhanced experiences for outdoor explorers. For divers, the Oceanic+ app offers real-time data, including water temperature, depth, and tidal conditions.
Apple continues its commitment to sustainability, with Apple Watch Series 10 and Ultra 2 featuring 100% recycled aluminum and 95% recycled titanium in their cases. Both models are carbon neutral with select bands, in line with Apple’s 2030 goal of achieving total carbon neutrality across all products.
