WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Thursday Times) — U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris presented a robust argument against Donald Trump while greeting campaign staff at the Wilmington headquarters on Monday, delivering a speech that also showcased her vision for the future.
Harris Vows to Tackle Perpetrators of All Kinds in Preview of Case Against Trump
“I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” she said to loud support from the crowd. “Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type.” She declared she would “proudly” put her record against Trump’s.
“As a young prosecutor in the Alameda County District Attorney’s office in California, I specialised in cases involving sexual abuse. Donald Trump was found liable by a jury for committing sexual abuse. As attorney general of California, I took on one of our country’s largest for-profit colleges and put it out of business. Donald Trump ran a for-profit college, Trump University, that was forced to pay $25 million to the students it scammed,” she stated.
Harris also highlighted her record on climate change, Big Oil, and Wall Street.
After detailing her case against a Trump presidency, the vice president emphasised that her campaign transcends a simple contest between herself and the GOP candidate.
“There is more to this campaign than that. Our campaign represents two different versions of what we see as the future of our country. Two different visions for the future of our country. One focused on the future — the other focused on the past,” Harris said.
Although Harris is not yet the Democratic nominee, she has garnered broad support within the party, including an endorsement from President Joe Biden, who listened in on her address to the campaign staff.
