Lahore (The Thursday Times) — Renowned journalist Hassan Ayub, speaking on a programme hosted by anchor and journalist Muneeb Farooq on a private television channel, has revealed that Shah Mehmood Qureshi is the mastermind of the 9 May attacks. The attack carried out on 9 May was not an attack on a government but on the state of Pakistan.

Hassan Ayub said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi was present at both meetings at which it was decided that, if Imran Khan was arrested, they would march on GHQ.

According to the renowned journalist, a meeting was held in Chakri on 9 May, which Imran Khan attended. It was decided there that, if Imran Khan was arrested, a march would be made on GHQ. At that time there were people in the system who were facilitating those behind 9 May.

He further said that the entire plan for 9 May was in place. When Imran Khan was being released after his first arrest, he had said that if he was arrested again there would be a very harsh reaction.

According to Hassan Ayub, in Adiala Jail Imran Khan kept threatening members of the Election Commission, saying: "I have recognised your faces; once I come to power, I will invoke Article 6 against you."
