— The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Thursday that a notification circulating on social media claiming TikTok had been banned in Pakistan is fake, and that it has issued no such order.

In a statement, the regulator called the information false and misleading. It asked people not to share or rely on unverified claims, and to take updates only from its website and verified social media accounts.

The fake notice claimed the app was being banned over national security, public order and the protection of children, and said it spread content against Pakistan’s culture and social values.

Pakistan has blocked the app more than once before, which helps such claims spread. Blocks in 2020 and 2021 were later lifted. TikTok’s own enforcement report says it removed more than 23.24 million videos in Pakistan between April and June 2026 for breaking its community guidelines.
