ISLAMABAD (The Thursday Times) — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has congratulated Oliver Blanco on his appointment as Venezuela’s foreign minister, saying he looks forward to strengthening ties between the two countries.
“I wish Foreign Minister Blanco every success in his new responsibilities and look forward to working closely with him to further strengthen the friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and Venezuela,” Dar wrote on X on Wednesday.
Blanco replied within hours. “I look forward to working closely together to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between Venezuela and Pakistan and advance our cooperation for the mutual benefit of our peoples,” he wrote.
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, appointed Blanco as minister of foreign affairs and international trade late last month. He has already met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, in the first high-level talks between the two governments since the US captured President Nicolas Maduro in January.
