PESHAWAR (The Thursday Times) — Direct flights between Peshawar and Lahore will start on November 9, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said, restoring an air link between the two provincial capitals.
South Air will operate the route in partnership with the provincial government, with four flights a week in the first phase, the governor said. The first flight is due to leave Peshawar at about 1pm on November 9, Iqbal Day. The journey takes 50 minutes to an hour, and Kundi said the number of flights would be increased later.
What is not known yet: fares and the full timetable have not been announced, and bookings will be through the airline’s official channels. One earlier report put the service at three flights a week, so check with the airline before planning a trip.
Kundi said the service would particularly help people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa living in Lahore, and businesspeople and employees who travel often between the two cities. Direct flights between Peshawar and Quetta are already running, and officials are studying air links to Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral and Parachinar.
