— Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has chaired a meeting on reviving and modernising PTV’s Drama and Film Academy, saying it will offer professional colour grading training in Pakistan for the first time.

Colour grading is the adjustment of colour and tone in film and video during post-production. Tarar said on Monday that young people would no longer need to go abroad to learn it.

Working with the private sector and universities, the academy aims to give young people hands-on training in film, drama and digital content production in a modern studio, he said. The latest equipment is available and filmmakers can now make use of it, he added, and the plan is also meant to raise PTV’s revenue.

Tarar called it a “game-changing” initiative for Pakistan’s creative industry. His statement did not give a start date, fees or a budget.
